I got a little tired of the cruise tour experience. It’s not ideal for me. Let’s just say it’s geared for folks that are little less adventurous, and for lack of a better term, “mobile.” So today I explored Naples on my own, while my parents took a bus tour through Naples. Actually, in retrospect, the the primary reason why I didn’t do the tour was a disclaimer on the tour ticket that noted “intensive traffic” could cause delays, and subsequently alter plans. The thought of being stuck in intensive urban Italian traffic… is not appealing.
The picture is of a castle right by the port- known as the “New Castle” – Castel Nuovo, or the “The Angevin Keep,” Maschio Angioino. From the 14th Century, this castle has 5 towers and a triumphal arch. And it’s right by the cruise port.
