April 26-May 2, Provence

I flew from Oslo to Marseille, via Munich.

At Marseille I met up with friend who coincidentally had plans to run a half marathon in Nimes- so we decided to spend some time exploring Provence, on the way to Nimes.

A few towns we went through included Cassis, Aix en Provence, Augbagne, Vauvnargues, Gordes, and Lourmarin. Featured image is of Gordes.

Needless to say- but this part of France is pretty nice.

Spending time in Nimes was great. Snaggle toothed grouchy cat with some form of cat flu at my friends place was pretty entertaining. It’s not very nice, but listening to that poor bastard coughing and wheezing made me laugh… Her apartment is also a few hundred feet away from one of the best preserved Roman amphitheaters in Europe. Normally there’s an admission charged, but the afternoon I was there, the French Foreign Legion was having a ceremony and parade, so I could go in for free and watch. After the parade was over, I wandered off to explore the arena… and after a while, I realized that I was the only one there… and locked inside. I hopped a few barriers to get into the maintenance area where employees park, and managed to casually stroll out while a bunch of staff were trying to figure out who I was…
